I am just learning about STP and have a quick question:

I have 9 2524's in a stack with no redundant links, is there a problem with RSTP enabled on all switches or is it even necessary? This is just a flat L2 switched net. with no VLANs.
Also, LACP is enabled as passive on all ports but there is no link aggregation, can this be disabled with no ill effects?

It's probably a good idea to leave RSTP enabled just in case a loop is inadvertently created.

I'd also make sure you're running the latest firmware (F.05.61) for the numerous bug fixes.

If LACP is not causing a problem, you can leave it enabled. A lot of people do prefer to disable it though as some operating systems can be sensitive to the slight 3 second delay it takes for the switch to start forwarding traffic after the port comes online.

With the current products, LACP is now disabled by default.
