Hi,

Would I be correct in thinking that the procurve 5300xl lacks loopback interface functionality?

On another note, is it possible to configure syslog functionality with a specific source IP?

Yep, 5300 does not have a loopback interface. The newer 5400/8200 products do.

syslog I believe will attach itself to the first VLAN that comes online. Unfortunately you cannot configure this.

You can configure snmp trap-source at least though.

and install system log server program on your pc
