I am new to my company and taking over the network for world domination, but I hit a snag in my master plan. With Cisco they have cdp to discover connected switches and such. But I am unfamiliar with HP switches. We have some scatter around and I would like to know if there is something I can use with HP switches to discover other devices connected like HP or Cisco switches and how do I use this great power.

Marcus, HP Procure switches use LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) to discover neighbour devices.

If you use ProCurve Manager Network Management solution(http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/management/index.htm), it can simply the discovery of your network since it uses other techniques, in addition to LLDP, to discovery and map your network topology.
HTH
Javed

Make sure you have latest firmware(http://www.hp.com/rnd/software/j4110930.htm). The release note for the C.9.30 firmware contains details on how to view/modify CDP configuration.

You can access them via the "menu" interface. Type "menu" and select (3) Switch Configuration> System Information
