Definitely does sound like a bug in that case. Have you tried changing the time sync to timep just as a long shot?
I don't have a 2910al myself but I know someone who does so I'll see if they can test the latest firmware for this issue.

I'm in the process of upgrading the firmware on these switches from W14.30 to W14.38. Boot ROM W14.04.

It seems that there is a problem now with the switches maintaining their time and dates since the upgrade. Some are reporting 1990 as the year????

Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

I'm now in the process of down grading them back to the original firmware version. :(

I recall a similar issue with the 5400zl's which was down to a timep issue. Have you tried switching to sntp?

# sntp server IP_address
# timesync sntp

Ah, ok. Do you see errors in the logs reporting problems reaching the sntp server?

Mohammed

I have look at the log for one of the switches and this is the output :-
-----------------------------------------
---- Reverse event Log listing: Events Since Boot ----
I 05/31/11 07:37:56 00414 SNTP: all configured servers failed
I 05/31/11 07:37:56 02631 SNTP: server not found at (ip addresss)

-------------------------------------------

The ipaddress is pingable from the switch, so not sure why it can't now find it since the firmware upgrade.

Q_2948_2# ping ipaddress
ipaddress is alive, time = 5 ms

Hi Mark

A colleague of mine had that issue, it is fixed in a newer release not on the hp web site. I would suggest you just log a call with hp mentioning the error.

Seems to be fix 48588

HTH
Gerhard

Hi to everyone,

I have the same problem with my 2910al-48G-PoE Switch W.14.38.

What is exactly the meaning of "fix 48588"?

Can we do something without restarting the switch....it is impossible right now because it is critical for our network.!!!

thanks a lot!!

B.Filippidis
Probank S.A
