Multiple Trunks on a 2626

I am new to managed switches and have a question about assigning trunks. I have an HP 2626 and have 3 VLANS with one port assigned as a trunk. Based on the documentation I have read it sound like you may only have one active trunk on this switch at any given time. Are any additional ports on the same switch assigned as trunks then used only as backups in case the first trunk fails?

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

I think what you have read was specific to LACP, this is what I got from the documentation:

Port Trunk Options and Operation

The switch offers these options for port trunking:

- LACP (IEEE 802.3adâ page 12-18)
- Trunk (non-protocolâ page 12-25)

The switch supports six trunk groups of up to four ports each. (Using the Link Aggregation Control Protocolâ LACPâ option, you can include standby trunked ports in addition to the maximum of four actively trunking ports.)

Hi, Robert !

First of all, what do you mean by the term trunk: VLAN trunk (say, Cisco trunk port) or PORT trunk (i.e., port aggregation)?

If port trunk, 26xx support up to 6 trunks, each with up to 4 links (ports) per trunk.
If VLAN trunk, there is no limitation on the number of VLAN trunk ports.
