Hi.

I am cleaning up the STP setup in one of my switched LANs, and noticed that while my 2600 series switches all accepted this interface command, the 5400 did not seem to accept it. Instead of edge-port, it seemed to have admin-edge-port, and auto-edge-port as options. Does anyone know what the 5400 equivalent is for the old "no span edge" command?

Cheers!

The MSTP version has been updated to the latest specifications on the 5400. This will most likely occur on the rest of the products in the near future. With this new version, setting the edge-port for MSTP is generally no longer required (although you can force it to admin-edge-port as you've seen).

There is more information about this in the release notes under K.12.04 enhancements.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/yl-zl-RelNotes-K1214-59914720.pdf
