      <description>Hi Guys&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have been thrown in at the deep end by my boss we have been given the task of creating a Vlan on a network at one of out clients and i have no experiance with this.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;So far i have managed to make the 3 extra Vlans aswell as the Default this is as follows&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Default_Vlan 192.168.10.249  255.255.255.0&lt;BR /&gt;Red          192.168.11.249  255.255.255.0&lt;BR /&gt;Blue         192.168.12.249  255.255.255.0&lt;BR /&gt;Green        192.168.13.249  255.255.255.0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i have enabled Routing on the switch but i am unable to get out onto the internet with this configuration i know i am possibly doing this totaly wrong but as i say i have been working on this switch for about 4 hours now and still none the wiser so any help would be greatfully apriciated&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks Dean</description>

      <description>Hi Dean,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you need:&lt;BR /&gt;1) a static route at the switch to the router:&lt;BR /&gt;ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 &lt;IP of="" router=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2) static routes at the router back to the switch(depends on the syntax of the router):&lt;BR /&gt;ip route 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 &lt;IP of="" the="" switch="" in="" the="" same="" vlan="" that="" the="" router="" knows="" of=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hth &lt;BR /&gt;alex&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/IP&gt;&lt;/IP&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi Alex&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks for the quick responce how would i achive this?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My router is on the ip address of 192.168.10.1 how would i add this static route into the switch&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;like i say i am a total newbie on this kind of stuff</description>

      <description>You need to remove 192.168.10.249 as a gateway, and configure the route at your router as well</description>

      <description>Ok as above i have put this route into my router hope its correct&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;C~       192.168.10.0/   255.255.255.0 is directly connected,    LAN&lt;BR /&gt;S~       192.168.11.0/   255.255.255.0 via 192.168.10.1,    LAN&lt;BR /&gt;S~       192.168.12.0/   255.255.255.0 via 192.168.10.1,    LAN&lt;BR /&gt;S~       192.168.13.0/   255.255.255.0 via 192.168.10.1,    LAN&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;now if this is correct i must be missing something as i still cannot get out onto the internet any thoughts?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks</description>

      <description>I have laptop on static &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Ip      192.168.13.28&lt;BR /&gt;Subnet  255.255.255.0&lt;BR /&gt;Gway    192.168.10.1 also tried 192.168.13.249 &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if i put laptop onto Default Vlan i get DHCP fine and out on the net its just the Red, Blue, Green on static that i am putting into the laptops&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks</description>

      <description>your static route commad is wrong (on internet router)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;static ip route command must have &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ip route 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 192.168.10.249&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and all vlan member client default gateway address must have vlan ip address</description>

      <description>ok,&lt;BR /&gt;the default gateway for your test client needs to be:&lt;BR /&gt;Ip 192.168.13.28&lt;BR /&gt;Subnet 255.255.255.0&lt;BR /&gt;Gway  192.168.13.249&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;the client must be attached to an untagged port of vlan "green" .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;then try to ping 192.168.13.249 from the client, if this works ping 192.168.10.249&lt;BR /&gt;if this works routing at the switch is working fine.&lt;BR /&gt;at last ping  192.168.10.1 to see if the internetrouter is working correct.&lt;BR /&gt;hth&lt;BR /&gt;alex&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
