For layer 2 priority bits, 802.1p, the VLANs that you wish to carry this information will need to be tagged. So yes it is true.

Don't forget to assign points to posts that have helped you.

Hi

I have to locations, that are connect to each via fibre.

The two locations are setup as following:

Main:
============
HP Procurve 9308

Voice VLAN
- QoS priority is set to 5
Computer VLAN
Router VLAN to remote office
- With a virtual router interface
- And the command: qos-tos

Remote office:
============
HP Procurve 5308

Voice VLAN
- QoS priority is set to 5
Computer VLAN
Router VLAN to main office
- With a virtual router interface

And in global i have excute the command:
qos type-of-service diff-services

Is this a complete QoS implemenatation ?!?!

I have looked i the VoIP solutions cookbok, but is the above a good solid running QoS implementation ?!?!

best regs

Kenneth Mogensen
Denmark

Hi
You have Set up a priority Vlan (Voice Vlan) which is good, and the way is correct.
The command "qos type-of-service diff-services" is used to enforce prioritization across WAN
interfaces (the 9300 and 5300), so your implementation is correct.

Good Luck!

Hi again

... I have problems with the above QoS implementation, and i have a question about tagging and untagge the interfaces in the router interfaces ... should they be tagged or untaged ??

Main if untag >-- routing vlan --< untag if remote

or

Main if tag >-- routing vlan --< tag if remote

The priority bit, is preserved on a tagged interface but not on a untag interface, is that true ?!?!

best regs

Kenneth Mogensen
Denmark
