I guess you have heard this problem a million times since I saw a lot of newsgroups talking about it without a resolution. I have a Compaq Presario 1260 computer and I recently upgraded to Win XP. The problem was the following: In the device manager the modem appeared with a yellow exclamation mark, it did not get the IRQ 3 automatically and the problem description was either Code 10 or Code 29 (I installed and de-installed the modem several times):

Code 29: The device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources.

Code 10: This Device cannot start

I went to Agere's web site, got the 8.22 generic Lucent Win Modem driver, however this one has exactly the same behavior.

I saw several forums mentioning this problem, however there is not other resolution mentioned than "download the 8.22 Lucent drivers" and "Install Windows Me".

Is there anything I can do? Any input appreciated.
