Getting: hardware malfunction Blue Screen, NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error,
***The system Haulted***
I tested the wireless PCI card in a Dell machine, it installed perfectly. Put it in a Presario 5400US and got the error. This tells me that the PCI hardware is ok. Any known issues with Linksys WMP11 wireless card and HP Presario 5400US? I updated the HP's BIOS as well...

I own an HP Kayak XU 6/300 (D4695N), and also get the infamous NMI: Parity Check blue screen of death, when I attempt to install the WMP11 V2.7 card. I did download the latest drivers as you suggested. These are version 3.8.28.0, the same version that is on the Install CD. Either way same result. I have 128 meg of memory, tried switching the 2 64 meg modules, same thing. I have BNios HB12.05 installed, I guess I could try HB12.06..but will wait for a reply from you first. Linksys is clueless at least the techs I have contacted

Regards

Dave Denman

I have a Compaq deskpro and receive the same error upon installing the Linksys wireless-g pci card. Seems like it might be a linksys thing.

I have also updated the driver and bios to no avail.

I finally fixed the problem. What a pain!
To get XP to finally install the driver for the Linksys, disable serial number generation
in bios and turn off any pci bus mastering as well. XP will then boot and not blue screen anymore. Then reinstall the latest driver and Viola! you will now have a working wireless card finally! Hope this helps. Almost backed out from posting this. HP asks far too many questions to register just to leave a reply and help thier customers. (this fix works for HP's as well as the Compaq. -Flash66
