Hi,

I am trying to sell an rx7640. The customer would like to know the difference between DUAL CORE and QUAD CORE comparing an RX7640 dual core with a quad core blade.
Please help.

Regards,
Berag

**What** exactly you want to compare?

(price, IO capablities/amount of memory, amount of slots, total number of cores ...)

> the difference ... comparing an RX7640 dual core with a quad core blade

They do not easily compare. The rx7640 has itanium CPUs and any quad core blade would have to have Xeon CPUs since there are no quad core itanium blades (yet). The rx7640 is a much bigger server that can have upto 16 CPU cores and has a huge i/o with 15 pci slots and lots of memory.
Take a look at the quick specs
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12470_div/12470_div.HTML
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/en/WF02a/3709945-3709945-3328410.html
Hello,

the reason why there are relatively little comparisons available between x86 world (for example the quadcore blade you are mentioning) and Integrity world (rx7640) is that these belong to completely different market segments. x86 servers with Xeon/Opteron processors are designed to work in a standard infrastructure while Integrity systems with Itanium processors are the choice for mission critical ERP and OLTP environments.

So you should advise your customer that if his intent is to replace/add some standard company infrastructure application, he should not consider a midrange Integrity system. On the other hand, if he needs hardware for his business critical ERP system, the rx7640 might be the right option for him. The reasons are quite obvious, the price is different by several orders and so is the reliability and scalability.

J.
