Please help me to understand terms like BMC/PDH/UCIO/PRS/HFC and their role.

Don't know what system you have, but I'm sure the firmware is much too old.

Looks like a rx3600/rx6600 with firmware from 2007!!!

All items should be up to date and must fit together.

Please explan me terms like BMC/PDH/UCIO/PRS/HFC and their role.

How can i always stay updated on the latest firware revision?

and what is the procedure followed to update firware ? what kind of backup should i take before that ? please guide me

The user guide will be helpful.

All of the items are on the I/O and MP board, all working together (for short).

Some are directly responsible for the system board and CPUs (BMC = baseboard management controller, PDH = processore dependend hardware, HFC = highspeed fan controller), some are I/O related (DHPC ~ hot-plug controller, UCIO ~ well, it's I/O).

The reason why you see them all is that each item has individual firmware, but don't worry, all are in the same bundle.

Hi,

The baseboard managment controller (BMC) the brain behind the IPMI typically related to your MP console. It helps in the control of certain aspects such as your cooling supplies, temperature and voltage. There are commmands on your MP console that allow you to upgrade your BMC firmware as well.
