If you press Enter do you see this message again? in other words are you actively attached to the console?

If so, then try the CTRL+e, c, f keystroke again. It is easy to not get it right if you have not done this before.

-Bob

Late post but could help someone. If the Cntrl-Ecf does not work then login to the server and look for a console session. Kill that session. You may have to kill the getty console also. It will respawn. I had this same problem.

I have seen a situation where Ctrl-E was intercepted by the terminal emulation software and treated as an escape character rather than as a character to be transmitted. So only the "c" "f" reached the console and nothing happened.

In that case, the Ctrl-E escape character had to be redefined to some other Ctrl-whatever character in the Settings menu of the terminal emulation software.

I see it was not mentioned so I will.

The Control+e whatever sequence means that there is someone already logged into the console. It is probably just an old login that is long gone. Running that sequence is supposed to kick off the other guy so you can get in.

Does it really kick them off? I have never been in a spot where I wasn't an old, connection. So I don't know.

The sequence?

1. press control and e key a the same time.

2. release the keys.

3. press the c key press f key press enter key.

I think that's it.

If USERA is connected to the GSP and working on the console, and USERB logs into the GSP as well and does the CTRL-E C F sequence, then USERA will definitely get bumped to read-only/view-only mode and USERB will get full control. However, USERA can do CTRL-E C F themselves and kick USERB to read/view mode.

Hi, first of all thank you, it works for me!

But in step 1 must be a little change:

You said: 1. press control and e key a the same time.

It works: press control and E key at the same time.

Best regards!

You said: 1. press control and e key a the same time.
It works: press control and E key at the same time.

Do you have a special keyboard where there is a separate key for lowercase e and uppercase E?
On normal keyboards, you have to press and hold the shift key before pressing the key to get E.
Perhaps you are referring to the lettering on the keys?
It turns out that the lettering for the E key will actually produce the letter e unless the shift or shift lock key is used.
