Hi,

For "rp" series of servers , depending type of server ( npar capable etc. ) the firmwares are
PDC
IODC
PDHC
SFW ( it includes other firmware for cell boards ,backplanes )
SEU
GSP/MP

For you first question about order of the firmware upgrade on "rx" server, it is usually mentioned in the release notes of the new firmware. Saying that SFW ( includes EFI , IPMI and other backplane firmwares ) and BMC are supposed to upgraded at the same time. If you have MP card installed ( which is optional in rx ) then you may need to upgrade its firmware too. The inter-dependability of SFW,BMC & MP is usually mentioned in the release notes.
Sometimes upgrading from lower version to latest version , you may need to upgrade to one of the intermediate level before you can upgrade to latest level.

It is always better to consult HP before upgradation of firmware because it is very critical activity.
System F/W upgrade of these systems is not intended to be done by end users/customers. Pls call HP support to do this since their are some step by step (importent) procedures to carefully folluw to make this upgrade sucessful.

Do not just mix and match individual upgrades but use the right firmware bundle or you could bring your system in a unusable state.

Kris

Hi,

Though the latest FWs are available, there are dependencied between the various firmwares, hence it is always recommended to consule HP before doing and FOR DOING the firmware upgrade.

The incorrect update may result in a unusable server. !

With Regards,

Siva.
