Hi, there are different methods to update the MP.

One is to run ftp from the MP to get the bundle.

Another is to run the efi script.

The ftp version is not up-to-date yet.

So I would run the bundle - this will update everything at once.

HP Business Support Center indicates that there are two types of firmware for rx1620 management processor - one for the MP card - and a bundled one for EFI/BMC/iLO MP. Is this correct? I am confused because if iLO MP is getting updated as part of the bundle, then why is it necessary to update the card?

The most recent versions in the bundle are: System 04.13, BMC 04.01, and iLO MP E.03.30

The most recent for the MP card is MP E.03.15

The release notes for the bundle said that iLO MP E.03.30 supercedes iLO MP E.03.15

Does Bundle iLO MP E.03.15 = Card MP E.03.15?

Thanks, but the question is: why do they talk about the MP firmware in different ways? There is a separate fiormware download for 'Management Processor Card' where they talk about 'MP E.03.15'. And then within the release notes for the other 'system bundle' download they talk about 'iLO MP E.03.15'..

Are these two updates addressing the same need on the system? If I update with the system bundle, will also need to update the card directly? What is the difference between iLO and not-iLO as far as MP firmware is concerned?

This is the hstory of the names:

GSP -> MP -> iLO MP

it is just a name.

Some previous updates were only available for the ftp method - some for various methods.

Just download the EFI bundle or ISO and run this update to go to the latest version (3.30)

And if you are running HP-UX, and are already on a reasonably recent set of firmware, you can use an HP-UX patch depot to do the upgrade.

On the entry level servers like rx1620, MP is referred as iLO MP.
What you see on the BSC is little confusing. HP has provided different options to upgrade the iLO MP firmware besides system and BMC firmware.

If you look at this BSC link
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=441905&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=447330&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=7

You will see "Firmware - Management " where you will find iLO MP firmware upgrade using ISO,EFI,FTP methods.

There is "Firmware - Patch" where you will find the HPUX patch versions for iLO MP firmware upgrade.

Under "Firmware - System" , you get the iLO MP bundled alongwith with the system and BMC firmware. So if you use this bundle, then you don't need to upgrade iLO MP separatly.

You can get more information about iLO MP at
http://h71028.www7.hp.com/ERC/downloads/c00767076.pdf
