topic rx2600 VGA issue in Integrity Servers

We have an rx2600 running Windows2k3. The VGA resolution is limited to 640x480, and if I try to RDP to it at a higher resolution it bluescreens. I've applied the suggested firmware multiple times and the server is still experiencing this limitation.
please advise

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=447335&prodNameId=88839&swEnvOID=1060&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=is-16537-2

Hi ,

can you specify the stop code details ?
Is it a stop 0x3b by any chance?

And how do you use the remote desktop, is it in console mode ? i.e. "mstsc /v:servername /console "
If so, does it still fail when not using /console mode ?

Can you verify the BIOS version of the video adapter, check this here:
Windows Start menu > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Adapter

It should be something like :

" BK7.8.1 VR000.000.007.008.027.001.001.000 y "
"Chip type (0x5159)

Do not check this video ctrl. info from a remoted desktop session (does not work in your case anyhow) but do this on the local console, if not it does not allow to see those details.

If the BIOS rev cannot be seen or is wrong (as in scrambled numbers i.e.) then the MP needs to be removed and reseated , if that does not help it needs to be replaced.

HTH

Kris
