So you have an rx4640 with mx2 processors in it right?

While the _current_ crop of 1.6 GHz CPUs are dual-core "Montecito" (aka Itanium2 9XXX) there were "Madison" single core CPUs running at 1.6 GHz as well. To make matters even better I think we have 1.6 GHz single-core Montecitos too :)

WRT pricing, the thing to do is contact an HP Reseller or Sales Rep.

I'm quite sure a faster CPU will speed up the system ;-)

1.6GHz dual core is likely a montecito, you can install them into a rx4640 (firmware upgrade and OS patches may be needed).

see also

http://docs.hp.com/en/A6961-96018/A6961-96018.pdf

Upgrade Guide
HP Integrity rx4640 Server

chapter

3 Upgrading to 1.5 GHz â A9731A or 1.6 GHz â
A9732A / A9733A Processors
and
4 Upgrading to Dual-Core Processors â
AD268A / AD139A
