Another step to try would be a scan on the controller or even a reset, e.g.

# sautil /dev/ciss_ scan
# sautil /dev/ciss_ reset_ctlr

First make sure you have a current version of the RAID driver!
This can be found here:
http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=A9890A

Locate the smartarray device file with ioscan, e.g.
/dev/ciss0

Use saconfig /dev/ciss0
to view the current config.
Use saconfig without parameters for all options (or man saconfig).

Example for extending the logical drive to 1 more disk:

# saconfig /dev/ciss3 -E 1 -p 1:3
Logical drive 1 expanded from 3 to 4 physical drives
Hello Vincent,

Just like to update you on the issue,

1) Please check the drivers to the latest
For HPUX 11.23 -->B.11.23.0712

we could see that if the driver is one version older(B.11.23.0606) the command with "-E" option to extend would not work in.

2)The latest firmware for the card is 2.68 for unix and 2.80 for windows

hope teh card verwsion is latest (verified from attachment)

3) Please check for the disk drivers for the latest firmwares.

If we match the above ,it should work in..

I have tried/worked and got the results
