My client has a RX7620 that they are trying to install windows OS on and they are using the "Smart Setup CD" but it fails. They captured the following information:

EFI-based setup utility Version v5.2
Detecting platform...

ERROR: the HP setup and configuration utility does not support the current platform
Please select OK to exit

Is this because HPUX is currently on the system or because they are trying to install an incompatible version of windows?

Thanks, Eric
I was just told that the setup cd is seeing the system as an 'RP' server and not an 'RX' server. Any ideas?

They should go to the EFI shell and run

Shell> info all

this will give good information about the status.

You are right - from your log:

Banyan Firmware (build 008.022) -- server rp7420

The servers model string is wrong.
You need contact the hp support to get this corrected.

Is the setup disk not working because the cell board thinks it is an RP7420 cellboard?

Is there a way to upgrade the firmware on the cellboard to an RX7620 without involving HP in order to get the setup disk to work?

I think the CD software will read the model string in order to know what system you are on.

You need very special tools to write this value to a correct value - only HP support can do this.

A firmware upgrade will not correct this.
