Console for itanium

i have rx6600 servers i want to install HP-UX 11.23 on them i try to boot from CD with EFI shell fs0: and then install but i have a problem in the console that it gives me the following error

Console is on a Serial Device
and will no more see any output on it.

any help in this issue also i can not connect using the serial port .

hi,

hpux and openvms by default will use serial port as main console.

you can continue installation by connect to your MP of the server. Look at the rear of the server and you will one LAN port (rj45) with label 'lan console' or something.

You will also find a label which indicate mac address for the lan console.

now, get you mp connect to your lan network and perform the following from any pc in the same network. Assign a unique ip address for the lan console!

c:\ arp -s 192.168.111.134 00-aa-00-63-d8-04

Confirm the arp table
c:\ arp -a

ping the lan console to check lan connectivity
c:\ping 192.168.111.134

if there are replies, you can telnet to mp or use you IE to connect to MP. In IE, enter the ip address at the address bar.

When you reach MP, default user name is Admin and password is Admin. Type co to access the main console.
