Hello,

on the website is no more available the manual "A6961-96018" ( "Upgrading ... " ).
Any idea where to find it ?

Another question : the configuration guide speaks of a required "0606" version of the HPUX operating system to support the dual-core processors : is this version really required ( I have a 0505 version ) or the last HWE/Feature Enable / QPK can do the work ?

OK, no points for the last one. The doc is too big. I have a doc titled "hp Integrity Rx4640 Upgrade Guide" Manufacturing Part Number : upgr-rx4640 January 2005

Hi,

Processor Configuration Rules Processors can be installed one at a time

Processors must be installed in the following sequence: 0, 1, 2, 3

Processors cannot be mixed in the same system

The HP Integrity rx4640 servers may require a firmware update to support Intel Itanium 2 Processor Add on products shipping after June 15, 2005.

Affected Intel Itanium 2 processors products for the Integrity rx4640 are:

A9731A-Intel Itanium 2 1.5 GHz 4 MB

A9732A-Intel Itanium 2 1.6 GHz 6 MB

Hi Again,

If U want to upgrade above part number processor then U need to update Ur system Firmware.

Action:

Check server firmware prior to installing any of these processor products. The rx4640 requires system firmware 3.17 or later. The firmware version can be checked as follows:

Shell> info fw

Firmware information:
Firmware revision: 3.17 [4511]

BMC revision: 3.49
Management Processor Revision: E.03.15

Updatable EFI drivers:
Floating point Software Assistance Handler: 00000118
Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Driver: 00070003

If firmware requires updating, the firmware upgrade instructions are included in the Release Notice that is included in the download bundle.

To download the firmware, go to http://www.hp.com/bizsupport.

Hello everybody,

thank you for the link to the manual.

The answer to my second question is in the manual itself :

Minimum Operating System Requirements
Ensure the server meets the minimum OS requirements. Refer to your OS documentation for updating
procedures.
â ¢ HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23), HWE 0606

So , I understand : it is not mandatory to make an OE upgrade, but is required , and enough, to install the bundle HWE 0606 ( June 2006 ) or later.
