Hi Guys, Could someone help here please. Anyone know how much maxmum memory you can have on a HP-UX rx6600 server ? We have currently 32gb but I need to find out if we can add more, so anyone knows how to find this out ? Thanks ...

It can support upto 392GB if youhave 2 24-DIMM memory multiplexer based board.

check it with cstm/mstm how many modules are in the banks, and which size.

Memory Configuration
The HP Integrity rx6600 supports double data rate (DDR2) synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM) DIMMs with ECC and double chip spare protection. The HP Integrity rx6600 can be ordered with one of the following two memory carrier boards:

AD126A-Supports from 2 GB minimum to 96 GB maximum memory; 8.5 GB/s memory bandwidth. The AD126A can be replaced with the AD127A to increase maximum memory beyond 96-GB and to a maximum of 192-GB, or to increase memory bandwidth to 17.0 GB/s. Please note, there is no return credit for the AD126A.
AD127A-Supports from 2 GB minimum to 384 GB maximum memory; 17.0 GB/s memory bandwidth.
Memory Loading Rules
Memory must be installed in groups of four DIMMs, also known as quads
Each quad must consist of equal density DIMMs
Memory can be ordered in quads of 2 GB (4Ã 512MB), 4 GB (4Ã 1GB), 8 GB (4Ã 2GB), 16 GB (4Ã 4GB), or 32 GB (4x8GB)
Minimum memory is 2 GB (4Ã 512MB)
Maximum memory is 384 GB, using twelve 16 GB memory quads in memory carrier option AD127A
Memory must be loaded in the order depicted on the memory carrier board.
Arrange DIMMs so that the quads with the largest capacity are in the lowest numbered slots.
For best performance, all DIMM slots on both memory carrier boards should be populated with the same size DIMM.

You can run stm tool and then check memory information, then you can see all slots usage of your memory carrier.

from my first post :

so if you buy 8x2 GB it should work, but maybe it will be better to use 4x4 GB to have some free slots for the future, but before you order some memmory to the server, you should contact HP ( technical support/ presales ) if its possible to make it.

You should buy memory from HP.

If you do not want to buy memory from HP, you should buy it from an outfit which explicitly states they will support the memory and that it will indeed "work" in the rx6600. If they have no idea what an rx6600 (or at least a "zx2-based HP Integrity system) happens to be, do not buy memory from them.
