Shalom,

One of the fans on the back which should have a green light will not have any light lit on it.

That is the way to determine which fan is down.

You might get some information by running mstm cstm xstm and check the hardware.

HP hardware service will dispatch a tech with a fan based on the information you have if you have service contract with HP.

SEP

Hi,
I have an Itanium server rx6660 - which has red light in front of it - and the ps output shows that the fan is bad.

Is this info is enough for hp to replace the fan. Cause we don't have SL log as it was cleard few days agao.
Or is there a way that we can see any other log files in the server which is equal to SL log
pls advice
thanks
"- which has red light in front of it - and the ps output shows that the fan is bad."

Does that message indicate which fan is bad? If so, then that would be enough info for HP to replace it.

Does dmesg show anything, or the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log?
>>and the ps output shows that the fan is bad. <<

Log Hardware Call / HP Local Support ->
Give the output of below command outputs to Hardware back line support.

ps -> output "from Console"
model
uname -a

(by seeing all above output AFAIK that would more than enough to replace faulty Fan"
