Hello all,

I recently bought a Compaq DL590/64 from an auction. What are my options are operating systems other than Windows, that are AVAILABLE.
I had Windows 2003 64 bit running, but we have no use for it. It would be great to get a 64 bit copy of Unix/Linux if possible. What are my options?

Thanks.

Hi Karl,
if you are looking for a Unix/Linux OS for dl590/64 you can use only Linux OS.
The supported distributions are:

Red Hat Linux 7.2
All needed drivers, bios, fw, are at:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/70_1263.html

SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 7
All needed drivers, bios, fw, are at:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/72_1263.html

You can also use the current Linux distribution pointed by Slawomir.

I recommend reading the dl590/64 docs also:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&locale=en_US&docIndexId=179911&taskId=101&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=254895

Regards,
Zygmunt
Does anyone have a link or know where I can get RedHat Linux 7.2 for the Itanium processor? I can't find it. The link from the first reply only offers the latest 3.0 ES and I did not see my system on their compatibility list.

Alright, so I have SuSe Linux 7.2 for IA64.
How do I boot off the CD? I am new to this type of interface, the server was running WIN2K3 Server and it just recognized it automatically. Do I have to enter anything in manually?
Anyone familiar with the DL590's interface during bootup?

Thanks for the document, is was helpful. My problem is that my system is not showing fs2 as a device, nothing for a cd-rom that I can boot from. I know this worked for Windows, any ideas?

Thanks for the help. One of the drives has Windows Server 2003 still on it but two of them do not, when I tried the first time, I had the two drives that were blank inserted. That is when I could not see an fs2. Later I tried inserting the drive that had an OS on it and I could then see fs2, but fs2 was the drive letter of the WIN2K3 drive. It had an EFI folder and an MSUTIL folder. I cannot figure out how to boot from my SuSe Linux CD. Do you think it is a bad CD? I burned it from an ISO image I downloaded.
