I have a RX6600 with 3 processors:
AB578-69019 1.6GHz 24MB cache dual-core processor.
The processor AD388-69001 1.67GHz 24MB cache dual-core 533MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) processor is compatible with the others.

Thanks a lot

Francisco

From the Service Guide:

http://g4u0420c.houston.hp.com/en/AB464-9003C-ed7/apbs03.html

"CAUTION: Ensure that processor speed and cache size are identical for all processors. Failure to observe this caution results in performance degradation or system failure.
To ensure compatibility, use processors with identical part numbers."

Rgds,

Don't mix processors with different part numbers.

We once extended an rx6600 with what seemed the same type of processor (cache, frequency, FSB, ...), but as soon as it was installed, the existing processors were disabled and only the new one was active.

It turned out the new processor had different part number. Technical specifications were the same, but that doesnt seem to be sufficient.

You need to keep all processors the same within the system. Seemingly similar processors that aren't won't work within the same system.
Three choices:
- update the system with another processor of the same type as already installed;
- update all of the processors with the new ones;
- leave well alone!!

Steve
