Hi Gurus,

I have this rx2620 server that has been running on 4GB of memory:
A6746-60001
512MB, DDR266 DIMMs

I removed these and replaced with 8GB of memory:
A6970AX
2GB, DDR,266 ECC DIMMs

The server is now showing the following error in VFP: Fatal System State detected. Check System Event Log (SL) for error messages.
Also when I check the system event logs I get this error:0 SFW 0 0 0x408000DC00E00010 0000000000000000 MEM_RE_CONFIG_IN_PROGRESS
01 Jun 2011 05:11:02
1 SFW 0 *3 0x64800FA000E00030 FFFFFFFF001BFF74 MEM_CHIPSPARE_DEALLOC_RANK
01 Jun 2011 05:11:03
2 SFW *5 0xC14DE5C9E7020050 FF3F4070000F0300 Type-02 0f7000 1011712
01 Jun 2011 05:11:03
3 SFW 0 *7 0xE08000D100E00060 0000000000000000 MEM_NO_MEM_FOUND
01 Jun 2011 05:11:03
4 SFW *5 0xC14DE5C9E7020080 FF3F4070000F0300 Type-02 0f7000 1011712
01 Jun 2011 05:11:03
5 SFW 0 *7 0xF480003700E00090 000000000000000F BOOT_HALT_CELL
01 Jun 2011 05:11:03

If I mix both DIMMs in the correct installation procedure, only the old 512MB DIMMs are detected and the new ones still fail.
Hi Torsten,

I have resat the DIMMs several times and swapped them around but I got the same error. I had downloaded the firmware but paused from applying it (thanks for pointing that out). I will apply it the next opportunity I get to the system and update you.
If one of the dimms is bad then you will need another 2GB dimm as they have to be in groups of four, per the service guide.

http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01404139/c01404139.pdf

Rgds,
How do I identify what DIMM is faulty in case that is the issue other than getting another set of DIMMs and doing the elimination method?

[mp0018fe2fd03b] MP:CM> sysrev

SYSREV

Current firmware revisions

MP FW : E.03.32
BMC FW : 04.04
EFI FW : 05.48
System FW : 04.29

# Location|Alert| Encoded Field | Data Field | Keyword / Timestamp
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 BMC 2 0x2000000001020010 1F81A37000120300 Type-02 127003 1208323
00:00:01
1 MP 0 2 0x5E800A7A00E00020 0000000000000000 MP_SELFTEST_RESULT
00:00:13
2 BMC 2 0x200000000D020040 0450A17000120300 Type-02 127001 1208321
00:00:13
3 BMC 2 0x200000000E020050 FFFF027000120300 Type-02 127002 1208322
00:00:14
4 SFW 2 0xC14DE93EF0020060 FFFF000A001D0300 Type-02 1d0a00 1903104
03 Jun 2011 20:07:12
5 SFW 0 1 0x5480006300E00070 0000000000000000 BOOT_START
03 Jun 2011 20:07:12
6 BMC 2 0x204DE93EF3020090 FFFF006F01050300 Type-02 056f00 356096
03 Jun 2011 20:07:15
7 BMC *3 0x204DE93EF30200A0 FFFF010302050300 Type-02 050301 328449
03 Jun 2011 20:07:15
8 BMC 2 0x204DE93EF40200B0 FFFF0108F20D0300 Type-02 0d0801 854017
03 Jun 2011 20:07:16
9 BMC 2 0x204DE93EF40200C0 FFFF0108F30D0300 Type-02 0d0801 854017
03 Jun 2011 20:07:16
10 BMC 2 0x204DE93EF40200D0 FFFF006FFA220300 Type-02 226f00 2256640
03 Jun 2011 20:07:16
11 BMC 2 0x204DE93EF40200E0 FFFF0103FDC00300 Type-02 c00301 12583681
03 Jun 2011 20:07:16
12 BMC 2 0x204DE93EF50200F0 FFFF010B4F090300 Type-02 090b01 592641
03 Jun 2011 20:07:17
13 BMC 2 0x204DE93F09020100 FFFF027000120300 Type-02 127002 1208322
03 Jun 2011 20:07:37
14 BMC 2 0x204DE93F0A020110 FFFF00EF41080300 Type-02 08ef00 585472
03 Jun 2011 20:07:38
15 SFW 2 0xC14DE93F0B020120 FFFF000A001D0300 Type-02 1d0a00 1903104
03 Jun 2011 20:07:39
16 SFW 0 1 0x5480006300E00130 0000000000000000 BOOT_START
03 Jun 2011 20:07:39
17 SFW 0 0 0x408000DC00E00150 0000000000000000 MEM_RE_CONFIG_IN_PROGRESS
03 Jun 2011 20:07:47
18 SFW 0 *3 0x64800FA000E00170 FFFFFFFF001BFF74 MEM_CHIPSPARE_DEALLOC_RANK
03 Jun 2011 20:07:48
19 SFW *5 0xC14DE93F14020190 FF3F4070000F0300 Type-02 0f7000 1011712
03 Jun 2011 20:07:48
20 SFW 0 *7 0xE08000D100E001A0 0000000000000000 MEM_NO_MEM_FOUND
03 Jun 2011 20:07:48
21 SFW *5 0xC14DE93F140201C0 FF3F4070000F0300 Type-02 0f7000 1011712
03 Jun 2011 20:07:48
22 SFW 0 *7 0xF480003700E001D0 000000000000000F BOOT_HALT_CELL
03 Jun 2011 20:07:48

-> This is the last entry in the selected log.

Hi Torsten,

It's been a while since saying I'd work on the system and get back to you. Happy new year :)

I removed the faulty DIMMs and the system is ok for now. Hopefully replacements will work ok.

Thanks and Regards,

Rianui
