Hi,

I have this memory configuration in one rx7640.
Two cells and in one cell I have:
[MP_rx7640-12] MP:CM> CP

--------+--+
Cabinet |0 |
--------+--+
Slot |01|
--------+--+
Part  0 |.*|  -> partition 0 -> celda 1
Part 1 |*.|

| DIMM Presence |
| |
| Side: | A | B |
|Echelon: |01234567|01234567|
+---------+--------+--------+
| |**** **** |

echo "selclass qualifier memory;info;wait;infolog" | cstm > mem_nombre_servidor.txt

Virtual Partition Name Ranges/MB Total MB Ranges/MB Total MB
==============================  ======================  ======================
serv01 0/ 0 8192 0/ 0 0
serv02 0/ 0 7680 0/ 0 0

Basic Memory Description [1]

Module Type: MEMORY
Page Size: 4096 Bytes
Total Physical Memory: 16384 MB
Total Configured Memory: 16384 MB
Total Deconfigured Memory: 0 MB

Memory Board Inventory [1]

DIMM Location Size(MB) State Serial Num Part Num
-------------------- -------- ------- ---------------- ------------------
Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 0A 2048 Config PRY06393ND A9846-60301
Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 0B 2048 Config PRY06393ME A9846-60301
Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 1A 2048 Config PRY06393NM A9846-60301
Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 1B 2048 Config PRY06393W0 A9846-60301

Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 2A 2048 Config PRY06393N8 A9846-60301
Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 2B 2048 Config PRY06393NK A9846-60301
Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 3A 2048 Config PRY063946P A9846-60301
Cab 0 Cell 1 DIMM 3B 2048 Config PRY0629530 A9846-60301

Cab 0 Cell 1 Total: 16384 (MB)

And I have two qüestions:

1) Why there are 8192Mg and 7680Mg in the servers? Where are the other 0,5Gb?

2) Is possible to put more Mb in this cell?. How much could I put?

Thanks a lot of,
Carmen.

>> 1) Why there are 8192Mg and 7680Mg in the servers? Where are the other 0,5Gb?

You are running vPars, so some memory is reserved for the vPars monitor... see Appendix D (p288) of this doc:

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02732529/c02732529.pdf

>> 2) Is possible to put more Mb in this cell?. How much could I put?

Yes, the rx7640 has 16 DIMM slots on each cell board - you appear to have 8 DIMM slots occupied on this cell board with 2GB DIMMs. You could add another 8 DIMMs (4 memory modules as they are sold in pairs) to this system. The rx7640 supports 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB DIMMs, so you could add:

4 x AB454A (4GB memory modules/2GB DIMMs) for an extra 16GB of memory
-or-
4 x AB455A (8GB memory modules/4GB DIMMs) for an extra 32GB of memory
-or-
4 x AB456A (16GB memory modules/8GB DIMMs) for an extra 64GB of memory

HTH

Duncan
