topic Itanium server crashing in Integrity Servers

One of my rx4640's has just crashed for no reason what so ever, its now back up and running and I have had a look in /var/adm/syslog to find out the reason as as usual there is nothing that jumps out as to why this server crashed. Is there a way I can enable better system logging on this server?

Boxes don't crash "for no reason what so ever" though they might appear to. See if you have any dumps under /var/adm/crash. If so, you can send them to HP for analysis.

Nyck,

Check the /var/adm/shutdown.log to see if it panic and the /var/tombstones file for any H/W problems. and of course the crash directory.

sp,

you can also check the system error logs in the mp prompt, i.e the command : MP>SL
select E for error and using keyword to display the logs.

I had a look in the various areas such as tombstones etc and it pointed to java somehow causing a panic on cpu 3. I also found a script called crashinfo which was helpful.

The responses I got pointed me to the tombstones area which gave me an indication as to why this server crashed.
