unknown MP Admin account password

We have an RX4640 server running 11.23
We need to reset the MP ip, subnet and default gateway, but we don't know the Admin user password.
We have access to the MP, but only for the Oper user (which doesn't have priviliges to change the network config in LC, only view it in LS)
I thought about taking the server down and removing the MP battery; is this the best/only way?

You don't know the Admin password AFTER the reset?

After the reset I believe the documentation states the default password.

Try the account name as the pwd after the reset. Then change it immediately if that's successful.

Also if you connect via serial cable directly to the MP you may get in and then can change the password....but that was awhile ago. Don't know if they still allow that.

The default Username/Password is AFAIK Admin/Admin

(Note the capital "A")

we have not been able to use the XD command as we do not have sufficient priviliges (we were logged in using the Oper account).

Hi Paul

Oper user can only view the status or limited access.

If you need to change the MP LAN interface you need Admin prevelege.

without this nothing could happen.

if you forget the Admin password you need to reset the MP(hard reset button in MP interface).

The default Mp settings are as follows,

Username: Admin
Password : Admin

How do I perform a hard reset of the MP on an Rx4640? I have not seen any hard reset button for the MP card.

paul: did you found and label or marked button shows reset in mp interface?

the Admin user password is not standard - someone has changed it so Admin/Admin will not work. I will not get an opportunity to carry out the reset according to Robert's precise instructions until this weekend, but I have all I need now to attempt this. thanks.
