I've got Exchange Server 2003 running on a Server 2003 box and I am trying to run loadsim2003 to stress the machine, but when loadsim opens, it posts "...for INITIALIZATION purposes only." Anyone had this problem before? I want to do more than initilization..I need to run the simulation. Thanks in advance.

That update is for loadsim 2000, which doesn't run on Exchange 2003. Either I'm running a bad version of loadsim2003 (it was the only version I could find on MS's site) or its a configuration issue and loadsim is going into limited functionality mode or something similar. No one else has experienced this?

Nick:

Sorry about that. The latest version for 2003 is 06.05.7226 and is available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=92EB2EDC-3433-47CA-A5F8-0483C7DDEA85&displaylang=en

in case you have an older version.

Are you logged in to the Windows NT Domain as a member of the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator's group?

Roger

Yes, user has both local and domain administrative rights. Theres a chance that the problem may be hardware related. What would really help me is if someone knows any criteria loadsim2k3 needs to go into 'initialization only' mode. MS doesn't provide any help docs with loadsim and the only information on the program that I can find on their site is on the download page.

I am both exchange and domain admin (as is my user). Has anyone run loadsim2003 and not gotten this message in the loadsim console?

"Running on Exchange Server version [version number] for INITIALIZATION purposes only."

Every screen shot of loadsim2k3 I've seen has this message.

You are running Loadsim on an Exchange server. To have full functionality you can only run Loadsim on a client, the server version is for initialization only.

Cheers
