4 processor Proliant 6400R

Hi,
I have installed Windows 2003 on 6400R with 4 processors.
Windows 2003 server is not recognizing all 4 processors. In device manager it shows Standard PC.
How can I enable all 4 processors in BIOS so that Windows will be able to recognize all 4 processors. I think windows should show ACPI multiprocessor PC in device manager??
Please let me know soon, I have exchange 2003 also on this machine.

Did you install the latest BIOS (4.14A) before installing W2K3 and Proliant Service Pack 7.10A after installing W2K3? See:

Plz see that I did not have a Compaq cd hence no compaq partition also. Can I still enable Multiple processors in 2003? is their any software utility which can do this without affecting my windows software?
The BIOS is 4.14a as you said but when going in Advanced features it asks for Utility partition?
I have all the software installed now, how can I enable the processor support without having to do all again, as OS an exchange are working now with all the configurations.
Please help.

Hi,
IÂ´m having the same problem. Proliant 6400r with 04 Intel Pentium III Xeon processors, 02 GB Memory and Bios version is 4.14A.
I did some installations using SmartStart 5.50 and update with HP Support Pack 6.30.
Tried also 7.10 but Windows 2003 doesnÂ´t recognize 04 processors. Tried a clean installation to.

To attempt to fix it try the following. However based on the MS Article previously linked, I cant be sure this will work.

Open Device Manager
Find the entry that says Standard PC (usually under First +)
Right click and "Update Driver"
Install From List (Advanced) - NEXT
Don't Search - NEXT
Then I would select "MPS Multiprocessor PC" from the list.

After a reboot, if it worked it should see both procs.

Hi,
I had the same problem. My solution was to start the System Partition Utilities and change the Operating System from Windows NT to Windows 2000 (you will not find 2003 there) in the menu Hardware settings. After that I reinstalled Windows 2003. As far as I know you have no chance to change from "Standard PC" to "ACPI MP" without reinstalling Windows, because it uses another HAL.
If you start the process of reinstalling from within Windows and not by booting from CD you even don't have to reinstall your applications.
If you don't have an System Partition you can also boot from a Smart Start CD (An older version compatible for 6400R). This should work as well.
