When creating new printerqueue's (Logical Printers according to MS)
the default form\papersize is Letter.

The problem is, we use A4 papersize instead of Letter.
I'm looking for the option\registry key to change the default behaviour of
this setting.

I've tried to change the regional settings, from English US into English UK
and even Dutch (Netherlands). No Luck, even changed the location, but alas,
the papersize still shows Letter instead of A4 when I create a new printer.

Changing it after creating the new printerqueue is possible, but creates a
lot of extra work. Not something the person in charge of creating printqueue's
is fond of.

We are servicing 2800 printers.
Defining the right default settings is a must. :)

Which setting changes the default form option on the server from Letter into
A4?

Thanks,

Frank Denneman

Software: Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (US)
Regional settings : English (US)
Location: US

Frank,

We have the same problem in our environment (see my posting on the 23rd).
I tried the same things you've mentioned, with the same results.

I'm going to try the following possible solutions:
- Install the dutch language pack, see if that makes a difference
- Install dutch printer drivers instead of the uk versions.

I'll post the results.

Alex

Hi Alex,

After testing and trying almost every option I found the setting that changes the default paper size.

In Contol Panel, go to the Regional and Language options.
Go to tab Advanced.
Change the Language for non-unicode programs
from "English(US)" to English(UK).

From this point on, the new queue's will have the papersize A4 as default.
This setting won't affect exisiting printqueue's
