topic Windows Terminal Server 2003 - Generic laserjet printer driver? in Windows Server 2003

All, I have a client with a HP 2840 connected to their desktop. They want to print to the 2840 when logged into the terminal server 2003 environment. Is there a generic laserjet pcl printer driver that will work for this printer on terminal server 2003? I was able to print from terminal server via the laserjet 4000 PCL driver, but some font sizes were off. Any suggestions of other HP PCL drivers?

Hi, Chris,

You might try the laserjet 2400 or 1100a driver.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?locale=en_US&pnameOID=412119&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=416419〈=en&cc=us

The 2400 is not an all-in-one, so you may loose some functionality.

Pat

Pat, thanks for the quick response.
Actually, someone called hp and they sent this. It worked. thx all.

You should be able to share the 2840 from your Windows 2000 system (using
the Microsoft Printer Share feature) and install the 2840 pcl6 printer
driver on the 2003 Server using the Add Printer Wizard in the Printers and
Faxes folder. Choose local printer (lpt1 port) during the installation (just
to get the driver installed) and modify the port in the driver properties
after the driver has been installed successfully. Also, during the
installation choose Have Disk and browse to the CD root directory for the
2840 PCL6 driver.
