logoff automatically -- plz help

Hello Experts
I logoff automatically just after providing usrename/password to a win 2k3 machine, even in Safe Mode. This machine is simply a file server, and once was a domain ctrlr, but now is a standalone server.

Are you logging in as the local administrator account?

Is this a fully patched system (SP1 + security hotfixes)?

Dear Jon Finley Thanks for the support. No dear the system is not fully patched/up-to-date. And yes I m trying to logging as a local Admin.
