You need to create an external trust, you cannot join a NT 4 PDC to another Domain without reinstalling it.

Existing NT4 domain- NT4 needs to remain PDC
Creating new 2003 domain-
domain members need to comunicate freely between NT4(authenticate)and 2003AD

Is the best way to create two 1 way intransitive trusts?

Or can I somehow bring the nt4 server into the 2003 domain and keep it as a pdc?
JM:

Why must you have the "PDC"? AD emulates the role of an NT4 PDC as needed with mixed environments. Is there a specific application running on the pdc?

Steven

I have a NT4 BDC running in my environment. Could you do that? From what I understand is best is to have a PDC and BDC. Then upgrade your PDC to Server 2003 and it would be ok to keep your BDC NT4 for a while, but you had better purchase another server for a Server 2003 backup to house a backup copy of your catalog. Ha or do like I did and pull an old 400mhz machine out an use it. I would not recommend that but it works.

I appreciate all the comments so far
It seems you people mirror what I have found out already- Was sort of hoping for a "magic bullet"

#1 I (unfortunatly have a specific app that requires to be running on the bdc) This app predates 2K and cannot at this time be ported over.

Upgragrading the PDC and keeping the BDC is not an option-- because I do not have a BDC (sadly enough)

Thanks again
JM
