Hi.

I have one DNS server, when executing nslookup in the server and the clients the following message:

Server: UnKnown
Address: a.b.c.d

Name: client
Address: e.f.g.h

And the client does not solve.

Host already places the name of the client in the file and even so it does not solve to the server dns.

Hi Alberto,

Can you give us some more information?
Have you set up zones in on our DNS server?

Forward and reverse lookup zones?

nslookup uses reverse DNS to find the server name so you need a reverse lookup zone configured otherwise you will get timeout errors.

Does the DNS server resolve any names at all? Can you ping other machines by DNS name?

For correct using of nslookup utility you must setup reverce lookup zones on DNS server.
