>>has anyone heard of migrating 2k7 from sbs2k3 exchange

Bill,
Currently you cannot install exchange 2007 in SBS domain
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/evaluation/TopQuestions.mspx
Q. Will Exchange Server 2007 be part of Microsoft Windows Small Business Server (SBS)?
A. Yes, Exchange Server 2007 will be an integral part of the "Longhorn" (code name for the next Windows release) version of Small Business Server (SBS). SBS is expected to be released six to twelve months following the release of the "Longhorn" version of Microsoft Windows Server.

Of course, if you migrate from SBS 2003 to windows 2003 domain - you can install Exchange 2007 in this new domain and migrate mailboxes.

I think you are looking at the wrong steps here. Exchange 2007(!) is very different:

http://msexchange.org/tutorials/Migrating-Small-Business-Server-2003-Exchange-Standard-Part1.html

http://msexchange.org/tutorials/Migrating-Small-Business-Server-2003-Exchange-Standard-Part2.html

-Paul
