I'm trying to install Windows 2003 Server on a HPVM guest VM. I've sucessfully installed Linux and HP-UX 11iv3 VM's on the box already. I'm using http://docs.hp.com/en/T2767-90067/ch05s02.html as a guide

My problem is connecting to the partially-installed OS after the first reboot. There is an OS running; I have a DHCP-supplied IP, and I can connect to the command prompt and ping other systems on my network, but I can't ping the VM IP.

SAC>i
Net: 2, Ip=16.93.30.37 Subnet=255.255.248.0 Gateway=16.93.24.1

# ping 16.93.30.37
PING 16.93.30.37 (16.93.30.37) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- 16.93.30.37 ping statistics ---
875 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 874159ms

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : ORGANIZA-049D0B
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : americas.hpqcorp.net

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : americas.hpqcorp.net
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 82-5E-F2-78-37-24
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 16.93.30.37
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.248.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 16.93.24.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 16.236.105.250
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 16.110.135.52
16.110.135.51
-- More --
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.248.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 16.93.24.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 16.236.105.250
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 16.110.135.52
16.110.135.51
Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 16.236.105.246
Secondary WINS Server . . . . . . : 16.232.7.246
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Friday, September 28, 2007 10:43:37 PM
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, October 13, 2007 10:43:37 PM

Is there any way to change the IP from the command line, or specify it when I do the first part of the install?

You can set the IP from the SAC prompt like
SAC> i 2 <IP-ADDRESS> <NETMASK> <GATEWAY></GATEWAY></NETMASK></IP-ADDRESS>
