ML 370 G5 Windows 2003 Server licensing

Hello. I write from Mexico, and I recently received an ML370 server for its initial setup. When I saw my company's purchase order for this server, I found that it included a certificate which reads "MS Windows 2003 5-CAL User Pack LTU". This certificate looks similar to the COA stickers found on regular PC's, but instead of a product key, it only has a tracking ID.

From what I can understand, this entitles 5 clients to access and work with this server.

However, I do not know if this same certificate also entitles the server to run a W2k3 instance with a proper license since I saw no OS installation CD's included.

So basically the question is, should we buy a separate copy of Windows 2003 Server and install it? Or can we obtain an OS license with this certificate?

It sounds like your company may have purchased the server without a Windows license, which is pretty standard for larger organizations that have a seperate licensing agreement with Microsoft called an EA (Enterprise Agreement) or sometimes an MVLA (Microsoft Volume License Agreement). Someone in management in your company's IT dept or in purchasing should be able to help provide such information.
