I have an older ML370 (800mhz model) that I am trying to install 2003 server onto from scratch. I booted off the smart start cd and erased the system and created my array. When I boot off the 2003 cd to start the install, the machine keeps locking up right after it loads all the drivers. I never make it past this point. I have updated the system firmware to the latest version with no luck.

Any ideas????

The microsoft fix is for systems that already have 2003 installed. I am unable to even load 2003 on my server. Like I stated earlier, the setup program keeps locking up after the initial default drivers load.

Have you tried loading the manufacturer driver during setup with f6?
We had a server that was having similar behaviour for 2000, we discovered that the setup program was loading an old, 40% compatible array driver from Microsoft and causing the system to hang. We threw in the array driver floppy at setup time and loaded that driver and it ran fine.

I figured out the problem. I needed to update the firmware on the Smart Array 221 controller card. Everything is working great now.
