Hi Peter.

It's XP's "Fast Logon" feature, designed to let users log in to the network faster.

See the following MS KB article - it explains the behavior.

You can change it in group policy under Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Logon - Always wait for the netework at computer startup and logon

Hi
I have following situation
Active Directory on W2003 DC, users have defined loginscript. Problem is that when users of XP are making their login and they are too fast, I mean they press immediatelly CTRL+ALT+Del and put quickly their password, no login script is launched. When they wait a bit, it works well.
Anyone seen this behaviour?

John's got it.

We had the same problem at my office.

Setting it to "Always wait" (i.e. as 2000 did), resolved the problem.

Jon

Thanks for advice

Logon script in our case is in user profile, but I will try to adjust GPO and to follow it.

For now thanks

OK, it is working fine, I am glad. Only I've observed that at the time of changing network - chanignig from cable to wireless or changing location with different scope it ia causing for laptop users slower startups.
But anyway it works well. Wondering only about why it has been observed only on few machines when they are installed and configured more or less equally?
Thanks again for help

Maybe if you run a Group Policy Results wizard, using the user and computer accounts that are showing the problem, it will expose a policy setting that's local?
