The issue you encountered is documented (as issue 10 on page 17) in the "Implementing Microsoft Windows Server 2003 on ProLiant Servers" white paper, which is posted at ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/partners/microsoft/dotnet/WindowsServer2003/tc030407in.pdf.

The new system management driver to support this server was just released on 05/21/03. It's available at http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17850.html. It's the one asociated with Windows Server 2003 on the support page even though the title says Windows 2000.

Hi all,

I'm working with the RTM version of Windows 2003. I installed the support tools for 2003. I have problems with the HP Proliant Advanced System Management Controller Driver. (v5.30.3718.0)
BTW it's on a Proliant 5500 server.

Error message: Installation failed on at least one service, one of the devices may have been deleted through device manager and a reboot may be necessary to complete the driver installation for this devices.

The operation was not succesfull.

I've tried everything. Only thing that works is to use the previous version of the driver from v6.20 support tools for 2003 (v5.27.2195.0)

I've seen that for version 6.30 of the support tools P5500 is not supported but why does the previous 6.20 do work. I preferably want to use all 6.30 drivers. Any hints

greetz Michel
