We have an motif application that does some drawings. When scrolling up and down in a drop-down menu for more than 20 seconds, it crashes the application. And the error message shows,

----- X server error -----
Error type: 0
Request type: Unknown
Minor code: 0
Resource id: 0

process killed by libc.so, (core dumped)

Occasionally error message will be:

----- X server error -----
Error type: 112
Request type: X_UngrabServer
Minor code: 7
Resource id: 90120

And this only occures on 4.0g and 5.1B, 4.0D does not have this problem, (we have 3 versions of tru64 unix), also when using hummingbird connect to a 4.0g or 5.1B box, it does not crash either.

Could this be a X server problem on 4.0g and 5.1b?

if using hummingbird, the X-Server is always the machine in front of you, so the pc X11 emulation is involved not the X11 display on Tru64 side!

Maybe time to use the debugger to get the root cause of the problem or have a closer look into the core file of the application.

Hi,

since you are able to login using hummingbird from workstation, the PC X11 work fine. and it is the problem only on m/c console. you could apply updated patch kit for 4G and 5.1B and check. since these patchkits will be having fixes for X11
