mount error

Hi Guys,

Need your help. I have a very old digital machine running tru64 4.0e, one of my domain is having an error upon mounting. When i try to mount the said domain, the server restarts automatically. There are three disk as member of this domain.

Please advise immediatelly. :(

Hi,

boot to single user mode and try to fix the domain with /sbin/advfs/verify

At the SRM prompt, you should be able to type in boot -fl S

Hi,

from CRM console

#init -S
will take you to single user mode

first check with "verify" command, if any issues fix the problem using 'fixdomain" command.
There wouldn't no any impact on using these commands

Admin Guide, chapter "advfs". Manual also explain in detail what is necessary to boot single user mode.....

hi guys,

Is there any other ways to recover my data, heres the situation:

a) I have three (3) disk configured as one file domain ( rz1c, rz2c, and rz3c)

b) When I try to execute the command "verify" my systems reboots automatically.

c) Furthermore, when I execute the command "salvage" in order to at least get the data, an error displaying " I/O error"

What will I do next? Their is no yet available command "fixfdmn" in TRU64 4.0E.

Help me. :(

Hi,

when the server reboots on verify then the domain is damaged beyond repair.

Sorry, but it looks like you will have to rebuild and restore.

It might be worthwhile investigating the "I/O error" first. It could be that it can not access one of the disks in the domain (e.g. a disk that is not properly seated or a disconnected cable, etc.). If you can fix the "I/O error" (without having the disk replaced), your domain might be able to come back up again.

Hi Marvin,

it seems to be a hardware error.
It's possible that the error is not the disk, like a scsi controller o something like that.

Can you list the output of:
#>scu show edt
in order to check the disk status?

Can you check for an error with:
uerf -R

Hi,

you should check for errors in binary.errlog and check the disks with
dd if=/dev/rrz1c of=/dev/null bs=1024k
Do you use any mirroring?
