    <description>hi all,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i have ES40 server with Tru64 v5.1 installed. i have /opt and /var backup on tape and i want to restore only complete /opt from tape at another node (ES40 Tru64 v5.1 2nd node) can some one help me to find out how to restore?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks in advance&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SiaL</description>

      <description>It depends of how you did the backup.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you used tar to make the backup, you need to run:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Identify the tape device name with:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hwmgr v d&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then run&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;tar xvf /dev/tape/tapeNc /opt&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can use the s option to avoid overwriting the current data and restore the files into the current directory.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you made the backup with vdump, first you need to position the tape in the right position:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mt -f /dev/tape/tapeNc fsf &lt;NUMBER&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then use:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vrestore -xf /dev/tape/tape0c -D /opt&lt;/NUMBER&gt;</description>
