    <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1B (Rev. 2650)&lt;BR /&gt;boot to singe user mode with this message&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;######################################&lt;BR /&gt;security configuration set to default (BASE).&lt;BR /&gt;open /etc/sia/matrix.conf: Invalid argument&lt;BR /&gt;File /etc/sia/matrix.conf not foundSIA initialization failure&lt;BR /&gt;Please fix the configuration problem (use siacfg) and reboot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;*******************************************&lt;BR /&gt;      SIA INITIALIZATION ERROR             &lt;BR /&gt;THIS REBOOT WILL RETURN TO SINGLE USER MODE&lt;BR /&gt;TO REPAIR THE SIA SECURITY CONFIGURATION   &lt;BR /&gt;*******************************************&lt;BR /&gt;If necessary, the following commands can be used&lt;BR /&gt;to restore to the installation defaults in case&lt;BR /&gt;the /etc/sia/matrix.conf file is bad:&lt;BR /&gt;        cd /etc/sia&lt;BR /&gt;        mv -f matrix.conf matrix.bad&lt;BR /&gt;        : &amp;gt; matrix.conf&lt;BR /&gt;        /usr/sbin/siacfg -l BSD libc.so&lt;BR /&gt;        # or, for Enhanced Security:&lt;BR /&gt;        /usr/sbin/siacfg -l OSFC2 /usr/shlib/libsecurity.so&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;INIT: SINGLE-USER MODE&lt;BR /&gt;-: -o: bad option(s)&lt;BR /&gt;/# &lt;BR /&gt;######################################&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When I try to execute this command&lt;BR /&gt;: &amp;gt; matrix.conf&lt;BR /&gt;it show error Invalid command&lt;BR /&gt;ls -l show no matrix.conf&lt;BR /&gt;SO, I try to create this file&lt;BR /&gt;using many commands&lt;BR /&gt;touch matrix.conf&lt;BR /&gt;cat &amp;gt; matrix.conf&lt;BR /&gt;vi matrix.conf&lt;BR /&gt;all above commands &lt;BR /&gt;shows error Invalid command&lt;BR /&gt;if I try to execute the above commands&lt;BR /&gt;on any other file name it work without any problem, just when I use matrix.conf it show the error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I use this command&lt;BR /&gt;/usr/sbin/siacfg -F matrix.conf -l BSD libc.so&lt;BR /&gt;to create new matrix.conf&lt;BR /&gt;same error&lt;BR /&gt;I try to stop sia service&lt;BR /&gt;/sbin/init.d/sia stop&lt;BR /&gt;then create the file &lt;BR /&gt;same error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ANY idea &lt;BR /&gt;Please help&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;BR&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Nabil&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>It sounds like you might have some filesystem corruption in the root domain, unfortunately affecting matrix.conf.  For a quick check to see if this is the case, you could try "/sbin/advfs/verify -a root_domain".  Note that this will only report diagnostics, not actually fix anything (because the root domain is active).  If you do find corruption, you'll have to boot off CD-ROM or an alternate boot disk and use verify and/or fixfdmn to repair it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Assuming there is corruption, it's possible that you might be able to sneak around it until you can get a chance to repair it.  Try renaming the (presumably) bad directory and recreating it:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# cd /etc&lt;BR /&gt;# mv sia sia.bad&lt;BR /&gt;# mkdir sia&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Then try the siacfg command again to create a new matrix.conf.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Martin</description>
