Tru64 Network Boot From Linux Server

Has anyone been able to boot a Tru64 computer from a Linux server?

I boot from a Tru64 server now and need to change to Linux.

The Linux machine will download the kernel and all files okay. However, Tru64 does not work properly. For example, [echo 'Tru64' > /dev/null] produces error messages. At boot I get "kds - unable to open /etc/gen_databases".

Thanks!

I know nothing, but it might help (someone
else) if you explained exactly what you did,
and disclosed the (secret) error messages.

It's also possible that the type of hardware
and the Tru64 version might be interesting.

The boot server uses V4.0G and the client Tru64 V5.1B.

Boot client is a DS15.

Thanks.

> The boot server uses V4.0G

Which is pretty much irrelevant if your problem is with a new "Linux" server. Unless I've misunderstood what you're trying to boot from what...

Cheers,

Rob

So I take it that no one has any experience network booting from a Linux server.

Thanks.
