Take off the top cover of the DS10 and locate the fan in the front. Just behind the fan is a large black plastic covered pc board and just behind that you should see a rectangular part marked "DALLAS" on it. That is the RTC that needs to be replaced. This is inserted in to an IC socket and can be carefully pried up out ofhte socket. Please note the orientation of the part so that the new one gets inserted correcty.

Dan

Sir,

When I am booting my Alphaserver DS10 a message is coming “INVALID SYSTEM TIME” .After entering into BIOS setup it is showing CMOS Battery problem and advices to replace the same. Unfortunately I am unable to search the CMOS battery on my motherboard. Could anybody help me to give some clue to replace the battery.

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Deepak Raheja
curiously the battery is not listed as a replacement part for the DS10.

Is there a Dallas RTC chip?
