I've tried all three types of the conversational bootstrap, but with no success.
AFAIR there is a parameter value to be changed. After that while booting I will get asked which boot steps should be performed and which not, but I don't remember the exact parameter name. Here I could deselect audit server until I've repaired it. Unfortunately it's not possible to skip this check with CTRL-Y, C or Z.

Please help me.

Sorry guys, it was my fault. I just forgot the second part (Once at the OPA0: Console $ Prompt â ¦ from http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/204)
Additionally I issued following command:
rename VMS$AUDIT_SERVER.DAT OLDVMS$AUDIT_SERVER.DAT

After thirty years, I'd expect to have a far more efficient and user-friendly way to reset a forgotten system password, too.

Having a hypothetical one-shot RESET_SYSTEM_PASSWORD system parameter and a password menu option on the installation disk would be preferable to the current, well, arcane mess.
