Open VMS Docs for a biginner

Hi VMS gurus,

I am a very new user to VMS, and I really want to know/study more on VMS.

Could someone help me with any kind of docs which is good a beginner.

Welcome to th e VMS forum.

From yours profile I see that you work with Linux. There is a HOWTO for VMS people aproching Linux. At the beginning compares some VMS command s to Linux commands.
Maybe it can help you.

Sorry,
I know that the HOWTO is for VMS people aproaching Linux and I dont know for an opposite. But for the esential commands you can look at the tables which compare both OS commands.

As Bob said you have the full documentation on web. The VMS documentation is very well written .

I omitted to mention a well-written book by the late John Wisniewski, "Linux and OpenVMS Interoperability: Tricks For Old Dogs, New Dogs and Hot Dogs With Open Systems". This book is an introduction to Linux for OpenVMS professionals. You could also use this book as the inverse.

The book is in print, available from HP Press at http://www.hp.com/hpbooks/digital_press/dp_1555582672.html

I am sure that it is available (or at least orderable) from your favorite bookseller or used book site.
